right guys, this thread is similar to the thread 'no games work??' in the games forum but the problem is specific to me now.

as u may know, i keep getting crashes within high performance games. i finally sloved the problem down to high settings. so naturally i turned down the settings. however this revealed another problem. in both games i tried, SWAT 4 and F.E.A.R, after i turned down the settings, i noticed that the games started showing green pixeliations. gradually this got worse right until the whole screen goes green and i cant see anything anymore. at this point ive got no other choice but to exit the game fully. below is a pic and vid (in the zip file) to show u wat i mean.

what do i do guys? i need to slove this. is it a gfx card problem or drivers?

Hmm very weird mate, very weird!
Did you have an ati card before this one that could be causing some conflicts you think?

Or have you had that installed off a fresh installation?

I know you say everything is up to date but that doesnt mean the current drivers cannot be causing conflicts for your card, have you not tried different drivers like the ones before you currently have?

Have you checked to see if the card is overheating/Also try using different molexes for the 6600,it looks like an extrememly overclocked card on its way out

EDIT power supply is fine,as you prolly know

    the card isnt overclocked.....

if it is overheating, how do i slove it? should i remove the side panel and see what happens?

btw, wen the game is running on high settings nothing happens expect the game crashes few minutes in. wen run on medium settings, that green crap happens

Remove the side of the case blow some cool air in see if it helps, have you checked what temp the card runs at yet in vid card properties, also what make of card is it?

Overheating, weak power supply or faulty card all give the same symptoms of too much overclocking, the fact that the problem has gradually become worse over time also gives strength to that fact the card is on its way out

Try lowering your video clocks 50mhz then further see if this helps the problem, from the opening program page click the little arrow to the right of customize under driver settings, then the system settings tab

That very warm, temps so high and no doubt your video card will be getting quite hot,how many fans you have installed if any,I fear any cooling steps taken now will be in vein I think you may have cooked your card, side off the case and a deskfan should give an idea if more cooling is needed :)

You're temperatures are kinda way above average..

My cpu runs at 31 degree's idle...compare that to yours

Also my graphics card runs around 50-55 degrees idle and 70 under full load

well u run a athlon 64 CPU, im running athlon xp.

i think my graphics card is the culprit.....my gfx card is idle and its running at 83°C

also i think my case is crap.....i currently have a Coolermaster Centurion 1

OK, was just told on the Lucasarts support forums that I might have a cooling fan issue. So could that in fact be the cause of all our problems?

well after looking at the temps on my system, i think it might be a cooling issue....

The coolermaster centurion is a very poor cooling solution I'v said it quite few times on this board,it looks nice and has the coolermaster name which makes it tempting but its only meant for mid range internet PC not gaming computer

From what you'v said concerning the temp of the video card it does look like the culprit, you should have no problem getting and RMA from MSI and a new card then install some more cooling:)

    Good luck Prankz:)

ofcourse you have a three year warranty:) follow this page,if at any time they ask whats wrong with the card, explain the green pixellation but anything beyond that YOU DONT KNOW IT JUST DOESNT WORK because you dont know anything about computers ;)

right ppl i need to bump this cos i really need to slove it..

ok so i have ruled out overheating by opening up my case. i left it for about 2hrs so that the pc can gulp in cool fresh air. but it didnt work. HL2 still crashed.

what else do u is affecting it? PSU problem? gfx card? how about dodgy sound?
