    Hi all.

My laptop just suddenly started lagging really badly a few days ago so I decided I'd come back here to run the procedure that you guys recommend in your sticky RUN ME FIRST thread.

I have gone through the procedure listed in that thread and will attach the logs in this post and the next one.

I'm not sure if things have cleared up or not. However, my laptop does seem to be running a little better (although this may just be a placebo effect of having run the procedures!).

I appreciate any help or advice given on my logs.:)

You are not having malware problems. You just have an old slow laptop that has about 1/4 the amount of RAM required to properly run current versions of Windows XP and other software you use and you are almost out of free hard disk space. Your logs show the below
    Code:
    Processor x86 Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 6 GenuineIntel ~1595 Mhz

    Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 189.82 MB

    Drive C:
    Description Local Fixed Disk
    Size 53.03 GB (56,943,611,904 bytes)
Free Space 2.56 GB (2,753,708,032 bytes)
Likely all the malware cleaning procedure did was free up some additional hard disk space to give you the 2.65 GB shown above which probably helped a little.

I had my suspicions that it was just old age catching up with my laptop.:(

I guess its good news then so as at least its something I can remedy fairly easy and was actually on my radar as something to buy very soon.

I'll take a look throughout the rest of the forum to see if theres any way I can clear up some space until I get a new laptop. Thanks for the reply.:)

You're welcome. You can stop loading the below unnecessary startups to help with lack of memory. See Dealing with Startup Process which was also given in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
