Getting a lappy with a SSD. Anything I need to be aware of?

Testing out SSD technology for the place where I work. I am getting a new lappy with dual HD's. One SATA 500 GB and one 160GB SSD. These are i7 second gen lappys from HP.

Is there anything I need to be aware of when dealing with SSD? We are going to install Windows to the SSD and use the SATA for storage. My understanding is that SSD's are low on heat and usually faster.

NB: I'd like to know the specs on your new laptop. Especially the 2 x HDD's feature. My old Gateway (circa 1999) had 2. Cost me $6,000 all up, at the time.

I hope you realize that HP is going out of business as a computer manufacturer, so support/drivers in the future will be minimal, at BEST.

Actually, they are not going out of business. They are spinning it off to another division called Personal Systems Group. They are planning on making more lappys, desktops, etc for years to come.

    Re: Laptop with 2 x HDD's.

Slightly off topic, but I just purchased 2 x Asus laptops, at half price for each, from our biggest computer national chain, in Cairns.

motc7 mentioned laptops with 2 x hard drives in his laptop he is interested in.

By coincidence, and not noticed by me at time of purchase, I ended up with 2 x ASUS Model A73T laptops, 2 x 750 gigs Hard drives each lappy, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OS, Quad core, 4 gigs DDR3 1333AG RAM, AMD A6-3400M 1.4 GHZ CPU's, 17.1 vis Screens. I paid slightly extra for an additional 2 year Warranty.

Windows Experience Index (WEI) is 6.5, 5.9, 5.3 Graphics, 6.2. 5.9 so is pretty satisfactory, except for weaker graphics score which is pretty common in laptops.

So now I have to learn about 64 Bit systems, and teach the finer points of computing, and MG, to my 2 sons where these are destined to go.

They each owe me around AUD$800 each. :major
