I really need some help with this. I have a couple of desktops connected to a DSL router. One works fine and the other, just today, keeps knocking me off both Mozilla and IE. It's like I disconnected myself from the internet. I ran spybot S&D, Ad-Adware SE, SpywareBlaster, and even Msoft's Antispyware with no results. They were all updated as of two weeks ago but, because i have no internet connection, I can' t update them. This desktop is running XP with all the service packs which I tried to do system restores on but, no matter what date I select, I get the failed to restore message. I ran Norton Systemworks but found nothing, no suprise there. I even went and did a Disk Clean up and Defrag, just so I could get on the internet for a few moments to update my utilities. Help, I desparately need some help. This machine is a pentium III 500mhz, 128mg, dual 60gb drives. Sorry if this was too long, Thanks

Can you use your other PC to download the tools in the below sticky thread, burn them to a CD and copy them to the problem PC? If not, just see if you can follow the directions for using HijackThis.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
