    What type of video card were you using before the GF8600? Is the 8600 new? Can you post the exact make and model of the video card? I know it's nVidia, but who made it: eVGA? BFG? MSI? Asus? XFX? Do you even get a BIOS/POST screen? Does the video card you were using before the 8600 still work? Try powering down, unplug the power cord, and remove the new video card. Make sure the contacts (the pins that goes in the slot) are clean and check to see if any are badly scratched or damaged. If it look good, firmly (but carefully) lock it back in to the slot and be sure it's all the way in; check the clip at the rear of the PCIe video slot and make sure it's "clipped" (that means the card is all the way in). If the 8600 has a power plug, make sure that it's plugged in to the power supply. If it still doesn't work, power down again, unplug the power cord again, and clear the BIOS using the on-board jumper. If clearing the BIOS doesn't help, see if a friend will let you pop it in their PC for a minute to see if it works.... anyway, let us know what happens after you try the few things I've suggested, and answering the questions I asked will help us help you!

    :confused

    Good luck!!!

    EDIT- I just re-read your post, and you said you tried it on 2 other systems.... you mean on 2 totally different motherboards, right? If so, then the card may very well be DOA. If it does the exact same thing on 2 or 3 different motherboards, it's a safe bet that the card is dead.

    Hi dlb..
    ..{What type of video card were you using before the GF8600?}}
    I was using a ATI X1300 512M DDR2 PCI-E....
    i still am using it....the GF8600 is going to be a new build....i was just testing it on a working systm first...

    ..{{ Can you post the exact make and model of the video card? ..}}
    I dont have the box or any paper...
    it just reads ..Gf 8600gt pcie 512mb 128 ddr2 tv/dvi on a sticker on the back along with serial #.....

    ..{{ Does the video card you were using before the 8600 stil....}}}}
    Yes and it boots fine....

    The contac pins look fairly good and the card does not requirer a power plug.....

    ...{{ then the card may very well be DOA...}}}....
    Ive had a dead card before and the screen stays black constantly.....
    But this card the screen stays black and after a few minutes it blinks black as if it were still working normally but it dosent send a pic....

    Actually, it could be that the power supply isn't strong enough, but I have used plenty of 8600 cards on 400w power supplies and they've always at least posted and gone in to BIOS. Under an intense load while gaming, I could see the card maybe cutting out or locking up with a weak PSU, but it should at least post. The 8600s aren't really that power hungry, and the ATI 1300 is a low end card that would run fine on just about any power supply. Considering the 8600 card didn't work in any other systems, and the fact that the card is probably used ("I don't have the box or any paper"), it's a safe bet that the card is dead. :( If you knew the brand, you could possibly return it under warranty. XFX has a lifetime warranty which is transferable so it applies if you bought the card used (restrictions apply; visit this link and enter your location and product series for info), BFG has up to a lifetime warranty if the card was registered (more info here), eVGA has a lifetime warranty also (more info here), and the other OEMs have a minimum of 1yr warranties, Asus has a 3yr warranty on their video cards.... alternatively, give it back to whoever you got it from and demand a refund!

    Well the minimum PSU required to run an 8600gt is 400w, so it could be the PSU if it's not working to full potential.

    So fit a new PSU at least 500w ;)

    I donno if this will help but I used to have an 8600GT, I had the GIGABYTE 8600GT 512MB DDR2 ver, does yours have a "silent pipe" on it or is it defo a heat sink? If it has "Silent Pipe II" on it then it's a GIGABYTE they are unique to the GIGABYTE models I belive :)

    The 8600GT served me well since it's reliese, except on my 1440x900 moniter, it was low on FPS.

    If your need to replace it on a budget the Zotac 9600GT 512 DDR3 is a great card, much faster. I only got rid of it for the Saphire HD 4870 because it couldn't play GTA IV on high graphics.

    That PSU should be find if i am correct the 8600 GT doesn't need an external power hookup, my brothers machine a Dell E520 which has a smaller PSU (~305 watt I think) runs an GIGABYTE GV-NX86T256H GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI-E fine the motherboard has a label max 75 watts printed above the PCI-E slot. SO your PSU should be fine. I recommend RMAing the video card
