I just got a new Sony Vaio and I want to put some nice stuff on it.

One thing I downloaded right away was a download manager because my connection cuts out randomly here and there and it is annoying when you have a huge download going and it dies. I'm not sure I like the manager I have though, my old one kicked in automatically whenever I downloaded anything, this one requires you to specifically use it for every download.

I'm not even sure what other kind of neat software is out there... any ideas?

Hmm... anyone used a password manager before? Are they fairly secure? It'd make things a lot more convenient, I suppose... I'd assume it logs you into your sites for you and allows various levels of security?

I use the password manager that's built into the Firefox browser. I then set a master password, so that Firefox won't remember them unless said password is entered, once per session.

It's a free way to do it for an (seemingly) unlimited number of password. Downside is that it won't remember other form data like Roboform will. (IIRC, haven't seen roboform in a long time)

I'd imagine the security setups are similar, an encrypted cache somewhere...
