I've been receiving this prompt, intermittently, from my Comodo, free-version firewall, for a couple days now; "updateui.exe" (in the screenshot) ... a quick search indicates that it's from "McAfee Security"!?!

This laptop is not yet even four DAYS old, came with Symantec/Norton Security installed, which I immediately switched to MS Security (MSSE now named "Defender"), and I have toyed with NO other security programs, besides SpywareBlaster (from JavaCool?) which is ALWAYS one of the first progs I add to a new machine.

I have "WOT" installed for searches (*not* the McAfee "SiteAdvisor" tool, which I haven't used in years) - so I'm simply trying to figure-out now: how on EARTH could this program have become installed on (in) a 4-day-old machine??

Just a guess but when you updated Adobe Flash Player did you un-tick the McAfee Security Scan Plus (it is ticked by default)
    See the screenshot

UpdateUI.exe can be different things; see http://processchecker.com/file/UpdateUI.exe.html, but none of them are McAfee. (McAfee has something called UpdaterUI.exe - similar, but not the same.)

Check which UpdateUI.exe it is in your case.

P.S. it is not trying to connect to the Internet, but your own computer (IP address 127.0.0.1).

This was my first thought, but I UN-checked that when I updated/installed Adobe Flash...

Good grief (on me this time)! I searched updateui.exe, but didn't notice the results I got were with the "r" at the end of "update".

Granted, I am naive' about many things "tech", but couldn't the geeks who name these things SIMPLY assign it an original, unique name, rather than naming it "John Smith", which "could be" MANY things?
