Google redirects to Bing

    I downloaded a zip file opener and then later noticed google would redirect to bing when I searched. It still went to the result I searched for but it changed search engines.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Your logs are clean.

    This does not sound like a malware redirection problem. It just sounds like some kind of confusion between what is your default search engine. When you are having this problem, are you searching after connecting to Google via www.google.com in the address bar? Or are you searching by typing into the Search bar on your browser?

    Also which browser were you using?


    Also ComboFIx already removed the below. So are you still having a problem?

    When I am in the search bar on google.com I have no issues. When I type in the address bar it, cow for example, looks up the word cow but it switches to bing when the results are displayed. I am using firefox 9.0.1. Yep, the problem is still there.

    Close Firefox completely and try using IE. What happens?

    I don't really know for sure. All I know is you were not having malware problems. ;) Based on what you just said, it was a settings issue.

    Your combofix log did show the below was set before:
