Google Software Reporter Tool

I have searched for a Thread specifically dealing with this software and although the Search Results brought up hundreds of Threads, none seem to be purely focussing on it.

I recently installed Chrome. I am on W7 with Norton Internet Security and Norton Identity Safe. Norton advises me when .exe files start and this Google Software Reporter Tool (GSRT) runs at least once each day.

I'd like to ask, what exactly does it do? Its very name seems a little sinister.

Also, I have read that it may conflict with Norton.

Ultimately, I need to decide whether to remove it. Thanks.

 

^^^ Thanks. I have read those Google Forum Posts, twice now. They don't explain what it actually does. Also, the stated method of removal does not seem to work, at least for me.

I am hoping that fellow members here will have their own experiences/takes on GSRT.
