Good Morning Geeks. Upon starting PC, no o/s or H/d was recognized(had been working OK). Start up from CD, but H/D still not recognized. Appears it is not being recognized in BIOS. Any thoughts/recommended steps? I'd like to recover and transfer data to new H/D if we can't fix old one. Is there a route you would suggest?

    Thanks,

    Acktom

Well, first I would check the cables, IDE and power. Check the IDE cable at the motherboard end also.

Check to see if the HD is getting power. With the case open, turn it on and listen for the HD making any noises: clicking whirring, etc.
