Half-life and xp

    Hi there i have xp sp2, i know there is a compatability issue with hl and xp but ive patched hl to 1.1.0 and used compatability mode in xp but it still wont work "please insert cd-rom".

    P4 3gz ht 800fsb/1mb-L2
    1gig 2700
    onboard sound and graphics.

    I dont have net connection so thats why i have sp2, but hl wont work on sp3 at all from what ive read.

    Any suggestions?
