half life cd key

does anyone know what file the cd key is located in? i can't seem to find it. thank you

CD Key is in the registry. Go to run, type regedit, hit enter. Then navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Valve \CounterStrike \Settings

Though where mine says CounterStrike, yours may differ. It depends on what version of the game you bought. I have retail version, you may bave Platinum Edition. It doesn't really matter, for once you find the Valve folder, just expand all until you see the Settings folder. There will be a REG_SZ key in the right window named "Key". The value of this key is your CD key without hyphens. You can either delete it and Half-Life will ask you for the CD Key the next time you start it up, or change the value directly. Either way works fine.

Or you could make things much simpler and just download the prog Kodo suggested...
