Happy Easter

Happy Easter to those that celebrate it.

For the first time in 45 years, I can't do so.

My mother married into a Polish family and we used to have a "traditional" Polish Easter breakfast including fresh kielbasa (with marjoram), placek, rye bread, colored hard boiled eggs, butter lamb and horseradish some of which I took to church to have blessed (we ate the blessed food first).

My vision problems, problems walking and hand tremors now preclude doing any of it. Sheesh!

Kielbasa! I'll have some everyday. In South Africa they're known as "Russians". The cheese-filled variety is hugely popular.

Here in the U.S., cheese filled smoked kielbasa is called cheddarwurst.

 

Happy Easter too. Easter is a family event for us but I think we do not have any staple food. We just serve whatever is available.
