I'm partial to ATI over Nvidia, what pieces do I need to make an extreme high-end pc, I've heard someone say quad-sli, can ati match/beat that, and what exactly is it.

ATI can't match that. Nvidia has made cards that are basically two cards in one. So if you put two of those in SLI you are now running the equivalant of 4 video cards. Of course, I don't believe there are any games that can actually take advantage of that at this time.

Quad SLI is a pair of cards that contain two GPU's each, running in SLI.

I think Quad SLI is only available (readily or initially) to system builders, like Dell and AlienWare etc, at this stage (unless it's been changed recently).

The best you can hope for with ATI is a pair of cards in crossfire.

They have pictures of the Quad SLI in the (I believe) latest issue of Maximum PC. I'll never be able to afford those!

THey are very powerful but a complete waste of money IMO. You can build a "hardcore gaming pc" with 2 7900GTX. ATI cant match those with their crossfire so id go nvidia. An AM2 FX62 or X2 5000+ are the best processors out there:

Just confirming what Insomniac says. Quad SLI drivers are currently only available to system builders (Dell/AlienWare, and Falcon NW are the only ones I know of.) That being said, the drivers for quad SLI are supposed to be made public by the end of the summer. Having two dual GPU cards right now is a waste, as there is no way to put them into quad SLI.
