Hardcore Issues

I have so many problems i don't even know where to start. this site is my last resort before i format.

A family member when signed into msn messenger recieved spontaneous messages with threat of spyware/viruses...

Now everytime i restart my PC a small program executes and displays this message:

"This call is not toll-free, it costs $2.99 proceed?"

even after i tried to UNinstall it, when i restart the PC it's there again.

As for the IE problems i keep getting pop-ups and i have an EliteBar that my programs will not successfully remove. They locate them, delete them, but when i restart they're back. (I'm constantly closing the pop-up window as i type this.)

My programs are Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, Microsoft AntiSpyware, SystemWorks 2004. I ran them last night, fully updated, and after logging on this morning, I registered with this site. (Programs found/deleted, restart PC, spyware is back.)

I've read the sticky Threads, and i just need an approval:
Should i do the following?

- 1st Disable System restore and scan again with the programs.
- 2nd Boot up in Safe Mode and scan using the given sites.
- 3rd Post a Hijackthis log.

P.S i have XP HOME, SP1

 

Well after a long time of waiting for a reply i did a search all over your site. I downloaded many programs but nothing seemed to work. I then restarted in Safe Mode and manually located it in the registry code. I found ONE file that matched the source so i deleted it.

All is well..........for now
