Hello, I have a Dell Dimension 8300 with Pentium IV 3.06 ghz, 120gb hard drive, and 1024 mb of ram. I recently updated from a geforce4 ti4600 to a Chaintech NvidiaFX 5200 and I've been having some problems with it. When I play Call of Duty United Offensive Multiplayer, it runs very choppy, it isn't smooth at all. It seems to lag but is not an internet connection problem. The game ran perfectly with the ti4600, but isnt running well with the new cards. Ive downloaded the new drivers and everything and it doesnt seem to help. Any other suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thx a lot.

you only upgraded to a DirectX 9 based card, however the Ti4600 is MUCH better than an fx5200.

what you are seeing is a result of downgrading;) if its not too late, get RID of that 5200 quickly, its not worth a dime if you like to play games.

minimum upgrade from your Ti4600 is an FX5700 (not the 5700LE), which will run you about $100.

The Ti4600 must be a DirectX9 based card because it plays COD. there really is no "upgrade"

the GeForce 4 Ti series was built to handle DX 8. it WILL play DX 9, but not to the full potential of the card. (this is why i prefer OpenGL, since all cards support it)

the FX series (GeForce 5--somewhat) is updated to handle DX9, however most of those cards are outperformed by their stronger seniors on the 4 series in OpenGL.

all in all, there are only 3 cards in the FX series that meant anything to gamers

FX5700 for budget users wanting decent performance
FX5900XT for a nice performance jump for the price
anf FX5900 or 5950GT for the top of the line FX card performing just under a Radeon 9800XT.

the FX 5200 should ONLY be in systems where starcraft is the top of the line game ;)
