Having windows explorer issues after malware removal

I recently got clean from malware on my sisters computer but I am having some issues. The only thing that is wrong is when i click on My Computer in windows explorer or any dialogue box for that matter it is extremely slow. In between all other directories it moves quickly, but if I click My computer I have to wait atleast 30 seconds. Any help would be appreciated... This is windows xp home with current updates. One other problem I have noticed is when I goto System Information, I dont get any info. it says, "Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation Software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing. The Management service is running and I tried restarting it.

 

Maybe it is some sort of external storage medium? Try unplugging flash drives, and maybe turning off the CD drive in BIOS. See where that takes you.

 

Done. not it. thanks zdawg... I tried disabling the drives in the device manager as well, to no avail..
