Heatsink Fan Assembly Question

Hi there,

In the process of replace in a dead motherboard. Got the replacement which is identical, pretty much all hooked up but the base for the fan and heat assembly look a little different. The original one is silver metal and the new one is black...there's also a green sticker stuck in the middle. Do i remove the sticker before applying the grease? Does it mean anything? Can add pic if that helps.
