I have a 2.8 Intel Pen 4 Duo core and I want to replace it with an AMD.
One person tells me it can't be done and another tells me it can.
They are both (I think) computer gurus.
    Please help me fellas!
Can I or can I not do this swap?
    Thank you.

AMD and Pent sockets are different and can't be swapped.

As said by eyeblazin, different ranges of cpus use different sockets, not to mention different brands!

As already mentioned, if you want to replace your Intel CPU with an AMD, you need to replace the motherboard with an AMD as well. Then you have to make sure you have the right socket.
