Hello, A friend directed me to the Windows XP Cleaning Procedure page on your site and I have followed all the steps and believe I have my logs ready to go. . . but then in browsing your site, I see that there were two steps I should have done previously that I didn't know existed  ("house cleaning & set-up" and "enable view of hidden files"). Not sure if I need to re-run the five tools. . .

I originally ran these tools because my computer (which runs Windows XP) is slow, locks up and I constantly have problems with non-responsive programs (especially Outlook). Sometimes when I try to shut down my pc, it just won't happen and I have to do a hard boot (I think that's what it's called).

So, after running the five tools I'm wondering if I need to remove the five items that Malwarebytes put into quarantine? Also, I don't know if I have a 32 bit or 64 bit machine (I believe I was supposed to specify one or the other).

You did not make the license agreement for HJT when you ran the MGTools.exe, but the logs you have are not showing any malware residues....are you having issues still?

    Let's clean this up:
Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Hello, I did the regedit that you suggested and I also ran CCleaner. My pc is still running slow, but not as slow as it was before (thank you for that!!); it comes and goes.

The issues I continue to have are:
    1. I will be working in a program (MS office) or on the internet and I get "program is non-responsive" messages. Not sure if this is something for another forum or not. This also makes it so that I can't close other programs when needed. It's like it gets locked up on something.

    2. Also I get error messages about the following things:
    rundll.32
    DSAgnt.ext
ccApp (forgot to look at the extension)
    wmiprvse (same)
    explorer.exe

    3. We don't always get this, but sometimes, even with only one application open, we get "low virtual memory" messages.

    Other questions:
    4. Should I keep all the things I downloaded on my pc? (SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, MGtools) Also, the regedit log that I put on my desktop - is this safe to delete?

    5. Malwarebytes put items into quarantine - do I need to do something with them?

Thanks so much for your time!

Need to add one more issue -

    6. A day after doing the 5 cleaner steps, my Norton antivirus found a "hijacker" that I had it delete. Could this have come from one of those 5 steps?

The issues you are having are not malware.....they could be problems with your OS or hardware related. And the file Norton found was most likely not related to the other issues.

Make sure your system files are good by going to start / run / type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and let it run twice...you will need your xp cd.

The rest of the issues should be addressed in the software forum, :(

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
