A virus or something is making my computer lock up to the point where I have to press and hold the power button to shut down. I have Windows XP and have just finished all the scans in safe mode, it seems to be okay in safe mode has not locked up in safe mode yet. The first time I tried running HitmanPro it failed, but it said it had found a trojan and other viruses the first time, but when I ran it in safe mode it did not find any trojans or viruses. Here are the logs:

Actually, we really require logs from normal boot mode to properly help you. Based on what you attached thus far, it does not look like you are having malware problems.

Why is this PC being run with no protection?

I have protection, I have Windows Defender. But most of the logs were done in Normal Mode, only one or two I had to do in Safe Mode. But should I get all the logs done in Normal Mode?
If it is not a virus though, what is causing my computer to lock up only when I try to access the internet? I have tried both Google Chrome and Firefox and both lockup almost instantly after opening them. I need to be able to access the internet on that computer for work.

Hi, I just completed the logs in Normal Mode. I did all of them except for malwarebytes my computer would not let me do it. It would start and then it would just keep locking up my computer...all of the others finished without a problem though. I am very sure there has to be a malware problem; my computer never locks up otherwise. I appreciate your help so much, the logs said they turned up some malware this time so what do I do from here?

Okay now from normal boot mode we are seeing some issues that did not show in safe mode. ;)

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

My computer would not let me use the scan, I disabled all security I have and nothing worked. In normal mode and safe mode. It just gives me an error message and when I try to run it in Normal Mode it locks up my computer almost instantly

Okay then try running Hitman Pro again and this time allow it to fix the Malware remants and Potential Unwanted Programs it listed. If that runs then reboot and after reboot, run a new scan with Hitman Pro and attach the new log.

Now Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the Hitman Prolog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
