Help deleting file?

Hi, I'm not sure which forum to put this in.

I've got a zip file that wont unpack or delete. It's not pron, its a sampler for a record label, so I think it's just corrupted from doing lots of stuff while it was downloading, instead of being all pron'd out w/viruses, etc.

It semi-crashes the system when I right click on it, or left click and hit 'delete file'. It brings up the grey 'not responding end now' box and such.

How do I go about deleting it plz?

running windows XP.

A file that doesn't delete, may mean many things. I'll assume for now, that you have sufficient priviledge to delete this file and that your system is free from viruses and malware. That leaves bad disk surface. The quickest check for a mashed file structure is to use the program chkdsk.exe.
Start=>Run=>chkdsk /f
If bad sectors exist this will usually find them and quarantine them.

 

Or if these don't work, and you are NOT getting a access denied error.

You can try deleteing them from "DOS" via the command prompt. Unfortunately, you have to migrate to the file in question then delete it from there.
