Help me build a Server

MMK this server will be used for inventory at an auto salvage yard. There will be other computers accessing this computer for inventory lists and such stuff. Im not exactly sure how high demanding software this is for just accessing inventory #s. The price range is around $1000+/- . Like i said nohing super duper extreemly lightning fast because it is only for inventory. Would somone or somones like to help me piece together a server or help me find one online. THANX a bunch

no seriously it depends on what applications will be used and how many clients that are connected. I built a file server (just for central storage) with just over $4000 that was capable of serving 20 users at the same time without lag. a fast harddrive is always good, for servers they usually recommend scsi but if there's no major applications and depending on clients you might manage using an SATA drive. heck, might even an ordinary IDE drive if there's not too much load.

thinking yea no need for a super good one..but how SLOW should i go? i mean i dun want to have to keep fixing it. and should i just be able to run 2k or xp, or will it matter with the software?

 

lol sorry!! I was thinking about 4000SEK (swedish kronor) which is about $500... guess I must have been tired yesterday
