I just got an 1080p monitor (was using a19 inch 1440*900) and now I am noticing lag during Dragon Age Origins at intense parts Near the end of the game but every thing else has been fine. I am not sure what is causing it the CPU or the Video Card. I haven't got around to playing any other games yet at the 1080p resolution but at this point I am assuming theres most likely going to be issues. So I need to know what will help the most when doing 1080p gaming or if some one has a suggestion that makes more sense then the ones I listed in that price range.

Looking at your specs, I would consider upgrading your PSU first if it is only 520W to allow for more wiggle room in the future, and to keep amp draw on the PSU rails down.

I have plugged your specs into this calculator: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

and listed the wattage results, as this is all the free version will give. However, to quote from the site:
A good brand of PSU is likely to secure this, and a poor quality brand is likely to skimp on it.

If you decide to buy a new PSU, take a look at this list and try to only buy one highlighted in blue in the good column: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=208143

I have set capacitor ageing to 30% and kept TDP at default (85%)

Your require at least 284W without a video card.

Using the card currently in the computer, you require 436W

Swapping the processor for the AMD Phenom 2 X4 at stock speeds, you require 463W

Using the processor currently in the computer:

    Using the Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon hd 4890 (non-OC) , you require 425W

Using the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5770, you require 355W

Using the EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 (non-OC), you require 407W

ok say you take out the PSU because I am getting a beefer one for Xmass (another corsair)

then what would you think would boost performance the most?

thx for the help but i think i might just hold out till the next gen hardware come looking at all the info it seams like i will only get GOOD performance if I go the $300 route like with a HD5850 or similar

a little side note, as tom's hardware doesn't have it yet, im curious about how the ati 5xxx series cards will stack up to the 4xxx series. Is it new and improved? or just redone (ala nvidia 8800/9800)

My friend just got a HD5770(yesterday) and my 4870 matches it at every step and also out benching it quite often when i OC my 4870 to 820/1000.
I am not sure but it seams like the HD5770 128Bit is the issue.

However from what I have seen of the 5850/5870 its a beast and no 4xxx comes even close but your in the price range of $300 to $450 and thats just to much for me right now
