    Hi guys,

Until a few days ago, my IBM laptop was running perfectly fine - but now it seems to have been infected by a virus (which i can't seem to locate)!

I've tried running AVG but all that really came up were tracking cookies, which i deleted to no avail.

I've used HJT before, however i'm in no way knowledgeable enough to know what to delete etc

The symptoms are basically- pop ups when i'm trying to use the internet (in both IE and Firefox - IE seems much worse though) - almost every time i try and click on a google result in Firefox it opens a new tab e.g. bidadvisor.com, rapidswitch.com (adversiting sites basically)
Also, my laptop has just started to run much slower since i've been infected. For example, it takes ages to get past the Welcome screen when i turn it on.

I'd really appriciate any help that anyone could offer as its making my laptop unusable!

    Thank you in advance!

    Rob

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

I ran all the scans, and my pc seems to have quickened back to around its normal speed, plus- before i ran the scans i couldn't get on majorgeeks.com which i now can.

There haven't been any ad pop ups so far, but i just wondered could someone please check my logs from the scan just to double check that everything has been removed.

    Cheers
    Rob

We need to log from MGtools that was requested so we can continue.

Also your MBAM log shows that you did not fix what it found. Did you fix this and just save the log before fixing?
