Hello! So, obviously if I'm making a thread here, I require assistance with my PC!

Now I've done all the steps that is mentioned in the Malware cleaning and procedure thread. I'm having one problem, when I try to run MGTools, it runs, does some stuff in cmd and then closes. I take this as it didn't run properly, so I tried the Debugging steps : my only antivirus is Microsoft Security Essentials and it is turned off, my firewall is off as well. UAC is disabled. I can't find any GetLogs.Bat in my MGTools folder.

Now, my problem. It started happening today when I came back from work. (It worked fine when I came home for lunch at 12) It told me an error message concerning Getbooks.exe with "System error. code: 1411". Now I know Getbooks is a malware. Error messages started on april 9th (from : AppCrash_GetBooks.exe_532467805b4314db5168fa11575138e1bb173db_0d5082f4" in my report archive) althought error messages have probably started appearing for 1-2 weeks now. They were small error messages though, I googled about it and it said it was probably an issue with a driver not being properly updated or something along those lines. Today is the first time this error message appeared and now, whenever I run my PC in normal mode, I cannot Run programs, open Windows Task Manager or anything. I believe I can browse the web but I can't download anything either. I'm in safe mode right now and all is fine. I looked around a bit about getbooks.exe and most people who had my issue had an actual .exe in a getbooks folder located in appdata. Now while I had the folder, no .exe was found there (Yes I enabled the option to show hidden files). Really that's all I can say, I attached the four logs of programs I could run, if you have any help about MGtool, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Download OTL to your desktop.

    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Vista and Windows 7 users Right-click OTL and choose Run as Administrator)
    • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
    • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
    • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Attach both of these logs into your next reply.

Alright, I did what you told me to, however a folder named ilividtoolbargaw reappeared after I deleted it, I couldn't find a proper way to uninstall it. It also appears that I cannot use your file attaching gizmo anymore... Anything over the text box isn't working. Is there another way to transfer the files?

Alright! I have updates, I can use my PC in normal mode again! At least this time it worked so I can attach files! So here you go. Things seem to work well although I didn't look around too much in case.

Now run OTL normally, just a scan and attach log.
Also, are you now able to run MGTools?

Unfortunately, no, I attached a picture of what it says right before closing.

    Delete these folders.

    • E:\Users\Maxou\AppData\Roaming\ParetoLogic
    • E:\Users\Maxou\AppData\Roaming\DriverCure
    • E:\Program Files (x86)\ParetoLogic

    Ready for final steps?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key [IMG] and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
