Help on reinstallation of XP

I need to re-install XP. I have the OS disc and Product Key. Is it just a case of running the disc and following the instructions? How can I save my Outlook Express documents, etc, and then put them back on my clean install? I need to know all the details i will need as i will lose internet access for a while when I do this! Thanks again and wish me luck!:confused
