    Help! (Thank you!)

    We are adding three pages for user-submissions on our site (for Quotes, Advice and Stories). We’re boilerplate-ing the build to minimize problems, and then customizing content.

    The Submission page is the page used/seen by clients (friends, family, visitors) and has a box for entering text with “Submit” and “Clear” buttons.

    Upon “Submit”, the Submission page dumps the client-entered data onto a Log page – in reverse chronology – and then recaptures the Log page as form inserted onto the Submission page – further down.

    Sounds pretty straight forward.

    Well, it almost works.

    The Submission page is dumping the data onto the Log page, in reverse chronology – no problem.

    The Submission page then seems to be inserting the Log page as a form – but the new data is never turning up (although the first two entries are showing up…).

    AGRAHHH.

    I will link both the Submission and Log pages below, but the HTML for creating/updating the Log file is:

    <!--webbot bot="SaveResults" u-file="Dance Quotes - Submissions.htm" s-format="HTML/DL" s-label-fields="TRUE" s-builtin-fields="Date Time" startspan B-Reverse-Chronology="TRUE" U-File="DanceQuotesLog.htm" S-Format="HTML/BR" S-Label-Fields="TRUE" B-Reverse-Chronology="TRUE" S-Email-Format="TEXT/PRE" S-Email-Address="snknilsson@gmail.com" B-Email-Label-Fields="TRUE" B-Email-ReplyTo-From-Field="FALSE" S-Email-ReplyTo="snknilsson@gmail.com" B-Email-Subject-From-Field="FALSE" S-Email-Subject="SNK: DANCE QUOTES SUBMISSION" S-Date-Format="%d %b %Y" S-Time-Format="%H:%M:%S" --><input TYPE="hidden" NAME="VTI-GROUP" VALUE="0"><!--webbot bot="SaveResults" endspan i-checksum="43374" -->

    The HTML for recapturing the Log file as a form is:
    <!--webbot bot="Include" tag="BODY" u-include="DanceQuotesLog.htm" -->

    The link for the Submisson page is: http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/Dance Quotes - Submissions.htm
    The link for the Log file is: http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotesLog.htm

    If someone can help me with this one, I think I can manage to port the solution to our other pages without mucking it up too badly.

    Please forgive any crappy code, we work almost exclusively in Design or Split Mode – we are not HTML programmers.

    Thank you so much.

    MORE INFO - NEW LINK - Re: HELP! - Page w/ Submission Form and supporting Log

    MORE INFO - NEW LINKS:

    Tangent: I've integrated an anti-spam security feature (online at http://www.mingamong.com/guest_book.htm; parent pages at http://www.wet-inc.co.uk). Mike George recommended, and customized the password - it works GREAT. Not random, but you can customize it.

    NOTE: have created an alternate page for the "work in progress" at: http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotes-Submit.htm

    This has the new security feature integrated. On my server at home, the form/Log system works great - it pulls the Log form up and displays it on the Submit page; no problem. Online - nada: it just doesn't pull the form up.

    This page was based on the FrontPage Guestbook (I used it as a template): I can't get the unadulterated FP Guestbook to work properly online - although it works fine on my server. Both server and online generate the Log file properly, but it only pulls back onto the Guestbook or my Submit page on my server. IE: If I use the template straight-up, the log document doesn't pull onto the page properly... The paradox: I lifted the HTML from those commands to pull the Standard Disclaimer onto our Home Page (previously part of the Home Page - I broke it onto a separate page because the Home Page was getting too cumbersome). The only difference I can determine between the two is that our Home Page and Standard Disclaimer don't involve and Submission of data. Yet my Home Page pulls up my Standard Disclaimer form both at home and online - so the commands are working on their server... Clearly, I'm missing something.

    Any assistance greatly appreciated. Suggestions?

    Thank you

    Best - Scott

    PATH PROBLEM - ALMOST HAVE IT... Re: HELP! - Page w/ Submission Form & supporting Log

    GOOD MORNING!

    I've almost got it figured out - it's a path statement problem.

    When I move the file into the root directory of the web - the parent file "DanceQuotes-Submit" finds the Log file ("DanceQuotesLog") just fine. It's when I move the files to the /Dance subdirectory that they won't work togehter.

    Odd: they work on my machine at home in either the webroot or the sub - it's only on the webserver that they'll only work together in the root. Been working on the path this morning, but not having much success. I could give up and just stash the Submission forms and logs in the root - but I'm not inclined to (we're making three once I have this problem solved, and I don't want to start accumulating lots of files in the root).

    Further verification: when I put the Submit file in the /Dance subdir and put the Log file in the root - it finds it and pulls it up immediately. When I move the Log to the same /Dance subdir as the Submit file - the code in the Submit file is not allowing it to find the form to pull it in. I tried the following modification to the string, but it didn't work.

    Was:
    <!--webbot bot="Include" tag="BODY" u-include="DanceQuotesLog.htm" -->

    Tried:
    <!--webbot bot="Include" tag="BODY" u-include="/Dance/DanceQuotesLog.htm" -->

    Didn't work - but it replicated that path statement only on the body of the Submit page, without the quote marks (/Dance/DanceQuotesLog.htm).

    Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

    Again: the files locations are:

    http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotes-Submit.htm
    http://www.2nilssons.com/Dance/DanceQuotesLog.htm

    THANKS, FOLKS.
