After the last Windows 7 update on my laptop I got the BSOD and have been unable to boot up since. Searching the internet has left me with a headache and a brain full of codes, but no solution. :confused
Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks autolychus!

The notebook is running W7 SP1, yes?

I see a KB from October last that refers to a 0x6B, the fix being to boot from the W7 DVD/USB and delete the Bootcat.cache file from %SystemRoot%\system32\codeintegrity of your Windows drive and then reboot the machine. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/981833

Can you give that a try?

Would that be the updates from 14 April or 21 April?
The three updates on the 21st were optional. Do you automatically have all updates installed?

I suppose you do not have a Windows 7 DVD to run the repair console

    fix #2 here https://neosmart.net/wiki/0x0000006b/
    would solve your problem

I suppose you never imaged the computer so you could restore it in case it became bootable?

If you do not have a Win 7 DVD, did you make a restore/recovery DVD?

What is the brand and exact model of the laptop?
What version of Windows 7 are you running? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

Updates were 14th April. I don't have a Windows 7 DVD but do have a recovery disk; the version is 64 bit. The laptop is Advent Modena M201.

Is is 7 Starter, Basic, Home Premium, Pro, or Ultimate?

If all else fails, you will use the recovery disk. Unfortunately, that will take your computer back to the way it was when it left the factory. Then you'd have to do months or years of updates. That's why it is a last resort solution.

Thank you for trying to help. It's Windows 7 Home and I don't think the recovery disk is working. :-o

Thank you for the link to the Microsoft page Will just go and look for the product key . . .

It will only work with a retail product key. If Windows was pre-installed I understand Microsoft will send you a CD but will require a payment. Don't know how much I'm afraid.

Can't find the code for that laptop.rolleyes Will a code from another laptop (which we kept the documentation for!) work?

The Win 7 iso will be the same irrespective of which key you provide. The problem will be getting any code accepted if you do not have a retail version of Win 7. Try any key you can get your hands on.
