Help request for trojans & various malware

    Hello,

I have made my best attempt to follow the guidelines established in the malware removal guide (including the opening section on 'Basic computer maintenance everyone should do'). The general problem, to me, seems to be that malware, particularly trojans, are being detected but not eliminated. I have attached on this post the logs from CounterSpy, BitDefender, and PandaActiveScan - and I mean to make a second post with the logs from GetRunKey, ShowNew, and HijackThis per instructions.

I hope I have done everything correctly and I will sincerely appreciate any help you can give me.

    Hello again,

This is the second half of my help request including the logs from GetRunKey, ShowNew, and HijackThis. I hope everything is in order.

Once more, I appreciate any help you may give me.

    Thank you.

Your ShowNew log is empty. Please follow these instructions Using ShowNew

    Download this file - Combofix.exe
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log for you. Attach this log to your next reply

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    * Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    * On the page that opens, scroll down to DomainService
    * then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    * When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    * Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    * Now do the same for Net Agent.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking fix, exit HJT.

Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    * Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:

    * Now click the 'Done' button.
    * Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    * You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt

    Please attach new logs for:
    ShowNew
    GetRun
    HJT
    Avenger
    ComboFix

    OK TimW,

First of all, thanks for your help. I performed the steps you outlined; however, there were a couple of problems.

1.) When I ran HijackThis the following files that you wanted me to delete were not there:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D58367CC-5C71-49A6-8885-0575BF0DFAF3} - C:\Program Files\Windows NT\vixyheli83122.dll G
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [icq.com] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkrntkbl.dll",forkonce
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: geeda - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeda.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: rqrromj - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\rqrromj.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstts - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstts.dll
    O23 - Service: DomainService - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gorfgnyq.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: Net Agent - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\dls0523pmw.exe (file missing)

2.) When the computer rebooted after using Avenger, a window popped up immediately claiming that it could not find the avenger.txt file. I can't find a log for it on my C drive either.

I apologize for the problems and I hope they aren't catastrophic.
(The HijackThis log is on the next post).

This is my HijackThis log. (As indicated above, I cannot find a log for the Avenger session, so it is not posted).

Here are the HijackThis and Avenger logs. However, none of the files I was supposed to delete with HijackThis appeared in the scan (which means I didn't delete anything.)

Practically, though, my computer seems to be running noticeably smoother without any of the pop-ups or unexplained antics that were happening before.

Your logs look clean. You may uninstall any programs we had you download (including CounterSpy, etc). And you still need to uninstall one of your anti-virus programs!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
    * Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix you can delete the ComboFix.exe file and associated C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
    * How to Protect yourself from malware!
