I saw 2 processers today. A AMD64 4200 socket am2 and one that was socket 939. Is there a diffrence? Which ones better?

AM2 is the newer socket and supports faster memory (DDR2). If you're planning on building/buying a new system I'd recommend the AM2 (provided you have a AM2 motherboard), especially since the next batch of processors for the future socket (AM3) will also be available for AM2.

I'd suggest the socket 939, it's Great Proven solid CPU:)

The AM2 doesnt offer any real performance gains, & also too new & the MOBO's for it are too new & buggy.
For AM2 it'sd best to wait.
AM2 may prove to be short life as well as AMD has newer stuff in the works.

You didnt mention Conroe so I will:eek: it appears to be good CPU Butt over priced, it too is way too new, I expect buggy MOBO's as well.
So far it has proved to be Much more Hype, than the AMD killer it was said to be.
So I say Stick it Intel :p AMD socket 939 & NF4 mobo Is where the Smart Money Is & The Biggest Bang for your Buck:p
