Help With Echoing Sound W/ Diamond 7.1 Sound Card

Greetings once again Geeks . . . .

I installed a new Diamond 7.1 sound card. It seems I am getting some echoing sound, especially with voices. I tweaked the equalizers a bit, it helped some, however I was not successful in eliminating the effect. I am not familiar enough with sound to understand what frequencies are tied to what effects/sounds.

I do not have any sound effects/presets enabled. I did toy with those to an extent just to see what kind of effect they would have. Onboard sound is switched off via bios, I am running Vista on an Asus M2V-MX SE motherboard. I have the most recent Diamond drivers.

So, can someone recommend a fix? I would hate to return the car and resinstall the Creative card I took out.

Did you uninstall the Creative drivers before installing your Diamond 7.1 card and/or drivers?

 

Yes. I even used Driver Sweeper to clean things out.

Furthing previous post did you also uninstall the original onboard drivers if mobo had onboard sound... Say you probably did. Dare say you have installed the right driver for your O.S and card.

Could try different IRQ setting in device manager, audio and video sometimes share the same IRQ depending on rigs config, also have a look at the sound and audio properties via control panel and on the audio properties. Have a look at the audio buffer per chance if playing back via media player etc...

Have had a similar issue eons ago on a laptop but how I resolved it alludes me. If the card also installed an audio app with the driver check it out, also ensure that the speakers are configured correctly... dare say you have done that too...
