You probably remember me from the last time I asked you for help, and again I thank you. This, however, is for my desktop. The last computer you helped me with was for my laptop.

I ran everything just as instructed and will be attaching the logs.

The computer seems to be running fine, now, but the same problem happened after running combo-fix. My clock did not switch back to 12 hour time.

The problem with this computer was found in add/remove programs with some of the programs noted in "read & run me first." I removed them, and hope they are gone now, but please tell me if you find anything else with the logs that might help.

Your help is much appreciated. I thank you again.

another thing that I would like to mention, which I am unsure about, is this: Once I changed, in MSconfig, selective startup to normal startup I always see, during reboot, to choose which process I would like to run, or something along those lines. It give me 2 Windows XP Home Edition. The countdown only runs for 2 seconds before launching, what I think is, the first one.

I have no idea what this is, or why there is 2 Windows XP Home Editions on my computer.

You may wish to read this:

    Particularly this post:

Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

after rebooting I got a blue screen that says:

    STOP: c000021a {fatal system error}
The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000402 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The sytem has been shut down.

I turned off the system and the avenger.txt appeared, also with a red X "Windows - No Disk" pop-up that reads:
    Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

I had to click continue twice

I followed your delete instructions and attached the logs you requested.

Did you remove the "extra" XP version?

Can you shut down and restart without incident?

Yes, i removed the bottom XP version from boot.ini file.

When I received the blue screen, with the txt included in my previous post, my only option was to turn off the CPU and turn it back on. When I turned it back on it started without the blue screen and the avenger.txt popped up along with the red X pop-up window as described previously.

The no disc message could be either software or hardware related. It could be a problem with Norton......not sure. But try this, go to start / run / type "regedit" ....when that opens, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom
Double-click the Autorun value, and type 0 for its value. Exit out and restart the computer. Tell me what happens.

Do you have any logitech hardware installed? Mouse/Keyboard/etc.

It doesnt appear that anything happened. It rebooted with no pop-ups or problems.

And no, I have no logitech devices on this computer.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)

    * Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
    * "%userprofile%\Desktop\combo-fix" /u
o Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
o This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    * Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.

    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    8. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    9. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    10. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:

    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Everything looks good so far, however, after running combo-fix my clock never switched back from 24 hour time, and the date is different too...there may be others but I was told that Norton may have caused this effect. Can you tell me how to get that back to default?

Combo removal is supposed to reset your time....it isn't for a lot of people. Do this:
Go to the control panel / regional and language / customize / time ...and set it to the format you prefer.
