Here's A Problem I REALLY Need The Help Of You Guys For!

OK, a few days ago I uninstalled McAfee because it just took up too much system resources and was making my whole PC lag. I then decided to Get Norton 2006 instead... I installed it fine but then something else went wrong and so I tried uninstalling it but it wouldn't let me from ADD/REMOVE.

Because of this I decided to search my whole PC for traces of Norton & Symantec programs/files and deleted each and every one. As far as I knew, everything to do with Norton was gone.

I THEN attempted to install Kasperky Antivirus instead because I heard good things about it. Anyway, here's where the problem is....

My computer must seem to think that Norton is still installed because upon trying to install Kaspersky I get the following message:



Well I then click 'NEXT' and get the following error message:



And it won't go any further than that, it just closes.


So I really need to find a way to get rid of ALL traces of Norton/Symantec because I thought I had done already.

i believe i always heard to use Norton's uninstall program and not add/remove. i hope someone else can give you more information about it.

 

Maybe try running the Norton Cleanup Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=bar_sch_nam&docid=2005092916503236&nsf=nip.nsf&view=608d99723bb69d448825705800827214&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=&seg=ag and see if it trims the left over registry entries?

Honestly, Norton goes so deep into so many system settings/registry/etc, trying to manually remove is pretty dang difficult.

 

I had to use this to completely get rid of Norton...Read about it before running it.

SymNRT is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer. SymNRT runs on Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

SymNRT should be used only if you have tried to uninstall the Norton program using Windows Add/Remove Programs and that did not work.
