    Hi

Is the ipod fully charged, do make sure its plugged in and if you press to open the screen do you get a battery icon?

What you also can try is to reset your ipod, plug it into the PC and see if iTunes recognises it, if its not recognised follow this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852 then see if you can restore it following this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 (NOTE: you will loose what is on the ipod now so do a backup first)

If all that fails then you may have a faulty ipod and would be best to call Apple support for your country or take it into an Apple store if one is close.
