Honey trap?

I recently participated in a private forum for several months and a bunch of us decided to leave.

We had a lot of problems with the website that went unresolved. Anyway, in comparing notes, we found we only had problems at that one website.

Someone suggested that perhaps the owner of the forum might have planted spyware of some kind or even hacked us. I don't believe it, but the concern was raised, so I decided to investigate.

I know honey pots to trap attackers exist for networked computers. Anyone know of one that will work on a PC that is not networked?

 

I did forget to mention. I know there is software to remove intruders, but if my privacy has been invaded by someone who purports to be an honorable person, then I want to be able to take action.

I don't just want to know IF I am being attacked, but who is doing the attacking.

 

Do you have a firewall in place? Using a router/firewall that has logging ability?

Forums usually have IP addresses logged and associated with user accounts. Moderators (or anyone) who has access to that IP information could also use it for direct assaults.

Yes I have a firewall. I actually use two. But the owner of the forum is a geek, and we all know firewalls can be gotten around.

I know how to get rid of spyware and stuff. I do tech support and build computers, just never been concerned about TRUST with a website until now. In any case, I want to be able to track the source of anything on my computer that does not belong. There are other people that still post there, and if he is doing something with spyware or even a resident virus, I want to know.
