How change text size in MS Works document?

I'm having so much trouble with MS Word 2007 that I have been using MS Works to compose documents. Can someone tell me how to change the default setting for text size? I can change it for the document I'm working on, but then it reverts to the default size and I have to do it all over for the next document. Thanks.

 

Works is a truly dread program and isn't compatible with what others generally use. You would be better off trying to get to grips with Word 2007 and there are many free tutorials to help you, such as http://www.word07.com/

But if you can't master it then try the free Open Office

 

I actually have Open Office 3.3 installed. I'm not sure why I installed it. I was a Word-aholic at the time, and I never really checked out OO. I have quite a few Word documents; will Open Office open them? How?

 

OO reads and writes Word documents in pre-2007 format, .doc, but tbh I haven't tested it with .docx documents, the format used in 2007 and 2010. But even if it cannot read .docx just open them in Word and resave them in the old format, Word 97-2003. OO will then handle them just fine. Whatever, just forget about Works!

 

Okay, Earthling, you've convinced me. I'll forget about Works, and I'll use Open Office from now on. Thanks for all your help.

 

Also, Earthling, I tried opening a couple of docx documents with Open Office and it worked just fine. I have both doc and docx documents and Open Office opens both.

Font - (In the HOME tab below the font and size info) Font Style - Size - Default.

I don't see the HOME tab anywhere. I have Works 9.0.
