Ok I want to run somekind of test on my computer system to see what my exact DSL speeds are. Why? Because I want to see if I am getting lower speeds then what I am supposed to be getting because when I first got DSL (Mid Nov 2004) it was very fast now its very slow and I want to see if SBC changed speeds on me (getting slower speeds but paying for a higher speed connection).
So what do I need to download or where do I need to go so I can see what my exact speeds are??
    Thanks :)

    Go through their speed tests.

Keep in mind traffic and packet overhead play a part in your down/up speeds.

As for what you are rated for, well logging into my DSL modem shows me.

From what I have read about testing DSL speeds, many sites like 2Wire.com offer free dsl test but the problem is how they perform their speed test. there seems to be very different approaches to speed testing. I am also on sbc's crapy side of dsl. and the bandwidth varies so greatly from day to day and hour to hour..... thier answer? Standard reply is always. they do not guarantee a specific speed but a range. As long as your in that range. albeit mostly in the lower half the dont care.

I use the Internet Bandwidth tests on www.pcpitstop.com . According to them, if you get roughly 85% of your 'rated' bandwidth, you're doing all right.

Thanks to all that replied I have ran the tests and found what my speeds are vs what they should be and I have a call into the DSL tech support at SBC.
