How do I recover my pictures?

I reformatted my computer awhile back and lost my pictures and videos. How can I get them back?

 

You may not be able to get them back. If you performed a quick format on the drive, and haven't written much new data to the drive, you might be able to recover some of your data. You can try Easy Recovery Pro, it isn't free, but it works great, and has an option for formatted drive recovery, and it's very easy to use. There's also PC Inspector. It does a good job, but it's a bit slow, but it's free, and very thorough. And it isn't the most user friendly app around either, but it's free.... anyway, like I said, the less data you've written to the drive, the better. Here's the links:

There's also some great tools in the Major Geeks data recovery section. Some are free, and some aren't. Generally speaking, you'll probably have to buy a program to recover the info from a formatted drive if PCInspector doesn't do it. But there are no guarantees. You won't get your money back if you buy a program and the data isn't there to be recovered. Some programs have a trial, where you can run it and it will show you the files that can be recovered. But you can't complete the recovery without paying for registration, but in this case, at least you could see if the pics are recoverable before shelling out some dough.
