how many wuauclt files ?

How many wuauclt files should be on the PC ?
There is...
wuauclt.exe
wuauclt1.exe
wuauclt.ex_
wuauclt1.ex_
...per attachment.
Seems to slow down startup, along with MBAM.

 

I really don't know but as you can see, I have more than you show.



None of mine run at startup. This is a Dell XP SP3 desktop with IE 8 Office 2007 and the latest version of FF. I also run MBAM pro.

Maybe the question should be... how to not have wuauclt.exe run at startup ?
Will do some searching/browsing.

 

Install a program that allows you to control what runs at startup. I use two: Startup Monitor http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml and WinPatrol http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/winpatrol.html
You can run both but better to try one, see if you like it and if not, uninstall it and try the other one.
