how much can a 400watt psu run safely?

    does anyone know how many drives etc i can have in my computer? my spec are amd 64 3000 with asus k8vx mb 1gig ram 2 hard drives 80gigsata and 320 gig ide. dvdrw and 1650pro graphics. i just added the 320gig hd but had to take out my dvdcdrw because i could not fit any more drives. have bought ide ribbon cable to reinstall the cdrw but am wondering if the psu will be up to the job. i have a 400 watt psu. thanks to any one who can help. costac19:confused:cool

    You should be fine with 400w, although it really depends on the amp output on the +12v line, if you have at least 16A (and you probably do), that should be plenty. Just check the sticker on the PSU. If you really want to know the low-down, visit one (or both) of these sites, enter your hardware into the appropriate boxes, and it will tell you what is recommended in the way of PSU strength
