How to capture images from Outlook 2007 emails

I just converted from Thunderbird to Outlook 2007 and have run into a snag with images: often I need to capture an image from an email and save it to a file. With TB, I was able to right-click the image and "save as" - I understand that this feature is not available in Outlook 2007, and the workaround from MS suggests doing a copy/paste to a graphics program.

When I click 'COPY' in the email, I can paste the image into Paint, but the graphics programs that I ordinarily use (Irfanview, Photoshop) do not allow the image to be pasted from the clipboard. Irfanview gives me a message saying "unable to paste from clipboard," and Photoshop has the "PASTE" menu selection greyed-out. I can, however, accomplish the task with a two-step approach: COPY (from the email), PASTE to Paint, then COPY (in Paint) and PASTE in Photoshop or Irfanview. Any suggestions? TIA

I had seen this post, but it talks about saving images in formats other than BMP - I'm ok with saving a BMP, but for some reason neither Photoshop or Irfanview will allow the paste of a BMP - I'm sure I'm missing something, but shouldn't I be able to paste a BMP into most any graphics program?

 

Hm, really very strange. You may 'print' it and paste in Photoshop, but then you should crop the photo for the size you need.

 

I'm sorry, I don't understand - what do you mean, "print it"? thanks,
