how to change the start menu?

I have Win XP and I have like a gazillion programs in my start menu (so much that they can't all be displayed...) but I don't even regularly use a lot of them so I was wanting to take them out of the start menu (without deleting them, that is). I know how to add items to it, but I can't figure out how to take them off without deleting the programs. I was thinking of creating a folder and putting all of the programs I don't commonly use (but still need) into it, but I don't see how to do that.

Can someone help?

*Create new folder and drag'n'drop programs into it*



Now I can actually find things easier in the start menu.

I use Starter from CodeStuff http://codestuff.netfirms.com/news.shtml to control my startup stuff in my W98SE system. Check if it works for XP, though. Bazza

PS: try http://www.majorgeeks.com/search.php and enter "start up", for lots of listed programs that may help, also. Baz

 

Even easier right click and go to explore.
