How to enable CGI on an Apache Server?

I downloaded a chat applet from www.morevil.com in hopes I could set it up on my Apache server. This of course did not work as planed, which the post makes it pretty obvious =P. Anyways, I put the chat in my server directory and try to load it up, and to my suprise it dosent work. So I looked around a bit, and put the chats .pl file in my servers cgi-bin directory. I looked through my configuration file and fixed the cgi-bin directory to its corret location, and it still does not work. I looked through the help files at Apache and nothing seems to pertain to my problem.... Does anyone know what im doing wrong here? Do I need some sort of special plugins to enable this CGI and Perl and such?

You didn't mention what os, did you install/enable Perl on your server?

 

Oh sorry, I didnt think it mattered. Im running windows XP and have Apache HTTP Server 2.0. I didn't know there was stuff like that to be installed, could you point me to places where I could get it?

 

*sigh* Nevermind guys.... I figured it out, I needed to install PHP. But now its telling me the .php file dosent exist, and it most certainly does! I read the help files and it said this could be happening for one of two reasons.

1. It isnt in the right location (which it is), and
2. It has become corrupted.

*whimpers* THIS STUFF IS HARD!!
