how to overclock videocard

How do i overclock my video card?

 

What card is it? Can you afford to have it replaced?

 

Check out the RiviaTuner page, particularly if you have a nVidia card. It supports ATi too.

But tell us what the card is, thats usually a good start

 

if you have an nvidia card: use rivatuner
if you have a radeon that's < xn00, then use radlinker
if you have a radeon xn00, use atitool

 

its a ati radeon 9600xt 128 mb

 

In that case use ATI Tool as has been suggested.

That's if you have Windows 2000/XP/2003.

 

i think strogg suggested using the Radlinker for a card that is less powerful than ATIs X series and a 9600XT is less powerful

 

what is the bad thing about over clocking your video card?

 

Well, there isnt a problem if you do it properly. Overclocking will make it run hotter, for sure, and if your fan isnt up to the job of cooling it you are in big trouble. If you start to see graphic glitches when using the computer (artefacts) then you are pushing it too hard.

Graphics cards usually are easier overclocked as their clock runs independant to the rest of the system. They also tend to go a bit further. The rule of thumb still stands, increace by 2MHz till its unstabe then back off 5MHz. Same with the memory.

 

do you guys also know about overclocking the processor of my computer cause when i go to bios all that stuff is locked out

 

to overclock processor i recommend cpu fsb, it has all pll's i think
