I'm on a works PC which is networked, however the printer that I use is not, its plugged directly into the printer via USB connection, the problem I have is that sometimes it prints without a problem, other times it says that printing has failed and a red circle with a white cross appears on the printer icon, however if I turn off the printer then turn it on again, then repeat this a second time it starts to print the document, anyone have any ideas, here is some information below:

    Computer: ACPI Uniprocessor
Ports (COM & LPT): Communication (COM 1), ECP printer (LPT 1)
    Processor: Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
    Driver: C:\windows\system32\drivers\parport.sys

I downloaded the HP deskjet 5600 series driver from the HP website

    Thankyou

Just remembered I think this printer shares a port or something with the HP Scanjet 5200C and I'm not sure but I do not think that is working.
