i had a serious bog down o my HP Mini with Windows 7 starter

i backed up and did a complete restore where the hard drive is scrubbed and software is reloaded off the D: Recovery drive.

my question is should i do the complete Malware procedure as outlined on the Magor Geeks forum or does the restore process get rid of everything bad?

also, i still have Hijack This since it has been a while where i had a problem,

is this still a good program and can you guys still analyze the log file from tyhis app? thanks!

PS: I had a Failure ID of 9C6FU1-5LK6LE-MFKR5G-6OSXO3 show up while trying to analyze the problem, somebody at the HP forum told me that this means my hard drive is going out, but after the complete restore, i do not think this to be the case, any ideas on this?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please do not post HijackThis logs and do not post any logs as inline text. HJT logs are of very little use these days. See the below sticky/pinned link:

Forum Rules and Guidelines - Do not post HijackThis logs

If you delete paritions, recreated partitions, formatted partitions, and then reinstalled, any problems you had with malware would be gone unless you had another harddisk installed that you did not cleanup or unless you had a BIOS infection ( very rare ). I'm not sure what the HP recovery install does. That is I doubt it removed partitions and starts over again because it basically cannot do this without erasing itself. Partition infections are very common and can can be a lot of work to detect and repair.

HP diagnostic error messages are not something we can help you with in the Malware Removal Forum. You would have to speak to HP or possibly someone in our Hardware Forum may have run into this before.

Your slow PC is not due to malware. Your logs are clean. It is your fairly slow processor and also and inadequate amount of memory to properly run

    Code:
    Processor Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N455 @ 1.66GHz, [B][COLOR=red]1666 Mhz, 1 Core(s),[/COLOR][/B] 2 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) [B][COLOR=red]1.00 GB
    [/COLOR][/B]Total Physical Memory 0.99 GB
Available Physical Memory [COLOR=red][B]157 MB [/B][/COLOR]

I don't recommend less than 3 GB with Windows 7.
