HP Compaq nx6110 Display Question

Hi there,

I have just inherited the above laptop. It has a faulty hardisk and no added RAM. Just want to see if it is worth buying these as the display has 2 black lines going accross the length of the screen.

If I connect the laptop to a monitor, the lines are not there, so this would appear to be a display rather than graphics adapter issue...

If in the long run, I wished to remove these horizontal lines, would I need to purchase a new display or an invertor or both?
