Hp scanjet 3970 software

    Given this scanner which works fine. Is there any freeware software to use the scanner to its full potential? Copier etc. Hp director wont run on widows7

    Not compatible with windows7, 64bit. Need some other software that is.

    Hi

    Does your scanner get recognised in Windows 7 ok, if so does the inbuilt scanning software not do what you wish, its in Start > Devices and Printers and double click the scanner for options.

    Or this from HP HERE

    Did you try right clicking the last latest version of the HP Director apps installer and choose Troubleshoot Compatability, may or may not work, but needs to be done on the setup installer file for the HP.


    Or can use an app like XNView to scan, has a few other options that are not in the defualt scanner, like writing to various formats etc not come across sadly yet any freebie apps that are more than basic, VueScan is one app but its retail.

    Scanner works great from "devices and printers" but would like a program that allows the scanner function buttons to operate properly. eg. Copy button sends scan directly to your printer.

    I don't think you will get the buttons to work properly.

    I went through this with an HP AIO in Vista. The best you can do is send the scan somewhere you designate and then open it and print it out.
    I discovered this while researching to see what could be done for the AOI with no proper drivers issued by HP.
