If my on-board network port would not of fried i would already be on page one but seeing as it did my backup rig has not been doing any folding for afew weeks now

I would love to see MG start moving up the list once again. We need to light the fires and kick the tires.

The one that really amazes me is our Bill_Marsden, for if memory serves me right he is running some pretty old stock right Bill??

 

If hes running some old stock i got some old P1's and P2's i can putt back together and get them folding lol. Bill if your running old stuff let me know if you ever need a part for a old rig because i am the king of old parts lol

 

Let's see:

2.5 Ghz Athlon/1 Gig RAM XP with a 8500 Radeon AIW video card

1 Ghz Duron / 256 Meg RAM 98SE w/ a VooDoo 3000 Video card


Things I've learned,

DON'T select allow jobs greater than 5Meg, as your work units will go down to 250 or so, Stanford still hasn't gotten this right.

XP will gracefully recover from the last frame if there is an uncontrolled power down, 98SE looses everything and starts over.

My 98SE machine is also my scanner machine (I love networks), something about it causes my folding to run slow, so I put this machine in safe mode and run folding like that, until it is almost finished, in which case I reboot it back into the normal mode until it has phoned the results home.


I really do have a 3rd machine to bring online. It is my entertainment center computer, a 1.8Gig Athlon / 512Meg 98SE machine with a Radeon AIW 7500 video card. I scragged it using it as a DVCR, and had a 250 Gig HD in it, which Win98SE puked at.

 

guess I'll have to dust off any old pc's I can find
